Client Notes

Specific notes from OTC conversion and spread sessions held in Quarry Bay.

We walked in with a USDT–HKD OTC quote that had three conflicting conversion lines in the chat. Their calculator pass took longer than I hoped — almost the full ninety minutes — but the final sheet matched what settlement posted the next morning.

The pre-trade spread review was blunt: they showed our bid–offer was wider than the second source we brought, then stopped. No pitch to “upgrade” anything. That restraint is why we booked again.

Jonas P., OTC junior, Kowloon

I still prefer our internal spreadsheet for routine pairs, but when a custom token–HKD ticket arrived last month their quoting brief saved our evening. The preset notes were clear enough for my teammate who was not in the room.

Phone follow-up after the session was prompt. One mild reservation: the Quarry Bay room runs cool, so bring a jacket if you are there after the rain starts.

David M., ops lead

Session story: Friday settlement drift

A Central desk arrived with a draft HKD settlement that was 0.4% above the OTC conversation from noon. During the Settlement Conversion Check we rebuilt the conversion twice on the PC calculator and found the afternoon instruction had applied a stale mid while the original chat used the dealer’s offer. The annotated PDF went into their file before the wire cut-off.

Session story: Uncommon pair, thin history

A small principal brought eight past tickets for a rarely traded crypto–fiat pair. Half the tickets used different decimal conventions. The Custom Pair Quoting Brief cleaned the units first, then documented a calculator preset. They returned six weeks later for a conversion session using that same preset without reopening the history work.
