When a custom pair needs its own preset
Thinly traded crypto–fiat pairs deserve a quoting brief before the rush of a live OTC chat.
Routine USDT–HKD tickets rarely need a custom preset. The calculator sequence is well worn. Trouble starts when a desk sees a token only a few times a year and each ticket uses a different decimal or naming convention.
A Custom Pair Quoting Brief is worth the fee when:
- Past tickets disagree on how many decimals belong on the crypto leg
- The fiat leg sometimes settles in HKD and sometimes in USD without a clear rule
- Two people on your team convert the same chat into different notionals
The brief is not market colour. It is a housekeeping document: names, decimals, a cleaned ticket table you supply, and calculator preset notes for the next sitting. After that, a standard conversion session can reuse the preset without reopening history.
